Shake Up Your Wake Up

It’s Midterm season y’all!

We know- you’re stressed, tired, and looking to get every additional second of sleep possible. However, this doesn’t mean you have to forgo enjoying a healthy breakfast, even if it's something on-the-go.

UNF boasts many different breakfast options all over campus, such as the Osprey Cafe, Einsteins Bagels, Jamba, Starbucks, and Outtakes. This presents options for all types of breakfast food lovers- from pancakes to acai bowls to bagels and sandwiches. Be sure to keep an eye out for seasonal items around campus, as we are currently obsessing over all things pumpkin! Check out Einstein’s pumpkin bagel with sweet pumpkin schmear and a pumpkin spice latte for a festive start to your morning.

Osprey Cafe

Every morning, the cafe is filled with the aroma of warm, savory breakfast. From the sizzling bacon, to decadent pastries, to the tempting smells of our waffle maker, the options are endless. For the healthier palates, we offer oatmeal, fruit parfaits, veggie omelettes (vegan and vegetarian options too), and whole fruit. Your bound to fill up on great sources of protein and whole grains on the daily!

Starbucks

Not surprisingly, there are plenty of breakfast options at our local on-campus coffee shop. From oatmeal with fruit, to whole grain bagels and avocado schmears, to Greek Yogurt parfaits, there's something to pair with that warm - desperately needed- cup of coffee on your way to class.

Einstein's

Breakfast central! Choose from a variety of bagels, schmears, and breakfast sandwiches to satisfy your morning needs. You can choose from what is listed on the menu or build your own! They even have a handful of vegan and vegetarian options, too!

Jamba

You can certainly find a well-balanced meal here. Fill your fruit smoothie with a veggie blend (beets, carrots, leafy greens - it's yummy I promise), any protein powder or milk/milk alternative, and oats! This'll last you for hours because of the fiber and protein and you can eat happy knowing it's nutrient dense.

If you are running low on time, don’t forget to check out our new Grubhub partnership that allows you to skip the lines and order ahead at certain locations! For a full list of on-campus options and a day-to-day menu list visit our website

They don’t call breakfast the most important meal of the day for no reason. Consuming a well-balanced breakfast is key for sustained energy between meals, improved focus, concentration, and maintenance of weight. Look for options that contain protein and carbohydrates in order to obtain these benefits. Luckily, these two things are basic components of most breakfast items, making it easy to find something that not only tastes good, but is good for you.

Not a morning person? Here are some tips

1. Pack your breakfast to take to class. Fruit, granola, yogurt, and trail mix are all easy things you can toss in your backpack to bring with you.

2. Skip the line. Use the Grubhub app to order ahead of time for some awesome places on campus.

3. Set your alarm earlier. Yes, it may be painful to think about, but imagine the hot, yummy breakfast from the Osprey Cafe you’ll get to enjoy because of it.

4. Prep the night before. Overnight oats are a personal favorite!
