It's the summertime and I am loving it! This is the time for beach going, flip flop wearing, and endless sunshine! BUT, it’s getting hot out there. It’s to that point where the second you step outside, the sweat starts to drip… one of the perks of living in the sunshine state! Since it is getting hot and you are sweating more, it’s important that you are staying hydrated.
I don’t know about you but I get sick of water pretty easily. When you get sick of plain ol’ water, it’s more convenient to reach for something else like soda or drinks that have additives and extra sugar. Creating infused water concoctions is a way for you to stay hydrated in these summer months that is fun, easy, and healthy!
What exactly is infused water? It is water with an appropriate fruit, herb, vegetable, or spice added to it. Put your fruit, vegetable, or herb in the water and then allow it to sit in the refrigerator for about an hour (or longer) so the flavors seep out into the water. It’s very simple and it’s a tasty way to get in your water needs as well as some nutrition. What’s even cooler is that you can make a variety of combinations.
Here are some awesome and refreshing blends:
The possibilities are endless! You can even come up with your own fun combo… there really are no rules, just make sure it sits for at least an hour so those flavors have time to intertwine. You can even go a step further and use mason jars or purchase a water diffuser pitcher! If you find a combination that you love, why not make a huge pitcher of it so you always have it in the house? Get your friends to try it! Hosting a party? Infused water would be a great option for something fresh and different. On campus?
