Your Vegan Dining Guide at UNF
Are you looking for a plant-based meal at UNF? Believe it or not, finding vegan options on campus is easy and delicious! With a wide array of vegan selections available from the Osprey Café, to Chop’d and Wrap’d at Alumni Square, we’re here to help guide you through an excellent vegan dining experience.
The Osprey Café
The Cafe is located in Osprey Commons, and serves different vegan dishes on the regular. The café is actually your best resource for finding nutritious vegan foods on campus, offering vegan options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At the beginning of each week, you can check out UNF’s Dining Services' Dietitian's Instagram (@OspreyDietitian) to find out what type of tasty vegan specials will be offered at the café (and around campus) during the week.
You can always count on having fruit, pastries, dry cereals, oatmeal, pancakes, sauteed veggies, and tofu scrambles for Breakfast. There are non-dairy milk alternatives for cereals and coffee beverages, such as almond and soy milk. Each day of the week, the chefs will prepare a balanced vegan dish for lunch and dinner, which is located by The Kitchen. Last week, they were serving a savory tofu stir-fry with fresh yellow squash, and a beautifully prepared basmati rice. Other appetizing dishes include Vegan Cassoulet, Mushroom Stroganoff, Sloppy Janes, Vegan Quesadillas, BBQ portobello sandwich, and more! There are also soups, pizza, a vegan garden burger prepared on the grill, the salad bar, and an array of delectable desserts to choose from everyday.
The salad bar provides an array of vegan options that are high in protein to amp up your salads! Nuts, beans, and protein-packed grains, such as farro and quinoa are provided daily along with a colorful selection of vegetables. If a dish can easily be made vegan you can request vegan cheese and meat alternatives for your dish, all you need to do is ask a cook or chef for assistance! The café is more than happy to help accommodate your needs. So long are the days of unexciting, expected plant-based meals thanks to the ever-changing selections provided at the Osprey Café. You can visit dineoncampus.com/unf for all the ingredient details if you’re ever wondering what the café is serving.
Chop’d and Wrap’d
Ever in a rush and don’t have the time to stop and dine at the Osprey Café? Chop'd & wrap'd is located in Alumni Square and is a valuable resource for plant-based meals, such as personalized fresh wraps or salads. They even have a vegan sushi roll!
Einstein Bagel Bros.
You can stop by the Student Union and get a dairy-free bagel e.g. Plain, Sesame Seed, Everything, Chocolate Chip, Cinnamon Raisin, or Power Protein and you can pair it with their vegan cream cheese schmear! Don't forget, they always have an avocado spread if you're looking to fuel your brain for an exam one day, and you can pair it with a side of fruit!
If you’re by the Club House, be sure to stop by Pita Pit to try their Vegan Mediterranean option that’s filled with hummus, falafel, spinach, cucumber and tomatoes. YUM!
That's right! You can order the Market Salad without chicken and blue cheese. (It will already be pre-made that way.) It's beautifully filled with fresh berries and apples, granola, nuts and topped with a Zesty Apple Cider Vinaigrette.
The options are limitless! You can order any smoothie and modify it to your needs. Try any fruit and vegetable combo and add in peanut butter, soy protein powder, or soy/almond milk. Add in boosters such as chia seeds, multivitamins, and green coffee extract.
In the mood for texmex? We have you covered at the Student Union. Head upstairs to the Boathouse and build your own grilled tempeh burrito bowl. Top it with yellow rice, black beans, pico, lettuce, jalapenos, and guacamole.
Remember, if you aren’t sure if there's a vegan option at a UNF Dining Services location, simply ask an employee and they’ll be happy to provide you with more information. So, whether you already consume a plant-based diet, or are looking to reduce your intake of animal-based products, there are endless options to satisfy your cravings at the University of North Florida!
