Here Comes Healthy Campus Week! (FREE prizes & events)

The University of North Florida will be celebrating Healthy Campus Week on September 24th through the 28th. This specific week stems from the Healthier Campus Initiative originating with the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA). PHA was inspired by Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign with the goal of making the healthier choice the easy choice for students, faculty and staff at universities across the country. As a 'partner,' UNF Dining Services will co-host Healthy Campus Week with the Department of Recreation and Wellness and highlight all of the health and wellness resources through fun and exciting events!

An easy way for students to find healthy options on campus is to look for the blue and white apple icon at our dining locations! This icon can be found all around campus at places like Jamba Juice, Chop'd & Wrap'd, Outtakes, Ozzie's, Pita Pit and the Osprey Cafe! These options have been hand chosen by our Dining Services' dietitian, so if you're ever in a rush and want to choose a nutritious option, just look for the apple!

As a partner for Healthy Campus Week, UNF Dining Services is hosting several events all around campus. These events provide fun and interactive ways for students to learn more about healthy choices and opportunities across campus, often while taking home a few free giveaways! Make sure to mark them on your calendar so you don’t miss out on these opportunities:

Monday, September 24, 11am-1pm

Location: All Around Campus

Modeled after the popular “Cash Cab,” students may be offered a ride on a golf cart to their destination on campus. Not only will this save students a sweaty walk across campus, but students will be asked a series of nutrition and dining trivia questions. Correct answers will be rewarded with prizes like dining dollars, snacks, or UNF swag. Follow 'OspreyDietitian' on Instagram to find our where our dietitian is and DM her for a ride!

Tuesday, September 25, 12pm-2pm

Starbucks (Building 12, adjacent to the UNF Library)

Take a break from studying and embrace your creative side while decorating your own Starbucks cup with your fellow Ospreys. UNF Dining Services wants to make sure student's minds are as healthy as their bodies by providing an opportunity to chill in the middle of the week. With a live band and a Healthy Osprey Refresher (available for purchase) it’s a time to hang out and de-stress. Blank cups and art supplies will be provided.

Wednesday, September 26, 10am-2pm

John A. Delaney Student Union Plaza

Come find UNF Dining Services as they table to promote overall health with other campus organizations. Learn about healthy initiatives going on at UNF along with health-related services provided on campus, and organizations that exist to promote student well-being. UNF Dining Services will be allowing visitors to build their own salad for free (yes, FREE)! All you have to do is visit four tables and earn a stamp, then present your 'passport' with your 4 stamps and you get to enjoy a delicious and fresh salad on us! PLUS, the first 100 participants will also earn a free t-shirt!

Thursday, September 27, 4pm-6pm

Jamba Juice (in the Student Wellness Complex)

Jeopardy and smoothies: need I say more? Stop by Jamba Juice and answer Jeopardy-style nutrition questions to earn free smoothie samples. The questions focus on building a healthier smoothie and will allow students (and staff) to learn how to add fiber to their smoothies, choose supplements wisely, include multiple food groups, and distinguish between added and natural sugars.
